Alicia's Facial Soap

This is a bit of a departure from my usual and due to some of the special ingredients, it costs a little more. There is a story behind this. Alicia is a friend of one of my daughters, but is more like family since she lived with us for awhile and has been a part of our lives since she was a toddler. I'd given her a slice of a Dead Sea mud soap that a friend had made and she was so impressed with how nice it was on her skin she wanted to be able to get more when that one ran out. She's very fussy about her skin care products, so that got my attention. This is an economy version of the super expensive soap that my friend made! ;-) The addition of tea tree oil and Dead Sea mud should be great for your complexion. The scent is cool and refreshing.

The first name for this was "Authentically Awesome Apple" but I thought that was a bit much to squeeze onto the label. This scent is not like the other apple scents I've offered... it truly smells like a bowl of fresh apple slices! I couldn't decide which type of apple... but some have said it resembles a popular fragrance called "Macintosh Apple." If you're an apple lover, be sure to give yourself a treat and try this one... just be careful not to take a bite!

I was having trouble coming up with a name for this soap and a gal from my church suggested the one you see. Sounded good to me! :-) Now for the difficult task of describing this masculine, complex scent blend. At its foundation are Douglas Fir, sandalwood, oakmoss and bay. Soften that with a bit of vanilla and black plum and then for the final pizzazz a pinch of black pepper. The whole thing is masculine (but not just for men), earthy, rich and exhilarating. If you liked the Douglas Firbanks blend, you'll probably enjoy this also. The response to this last season was good. :-)

Someone else came up with this scent combination and I'm so pleased with how yummy it is! A well rounded combination of tart cranberries with the softness of oatmeal and some cinnamon and spice tossed in. Definitely will warm you for the winter months. This one received more than one ooh and ahh last season.

This is a great unisex blend! I had a trouble deciding what to call it... "Salty Cucumber" might have been cuter, but I was afraid you'd expect it to smell like dill pickles! Instead... it's a clean blend of cucumber, ocean, herbal... very hard to describe. If I had to sum it up... it's as exhilarating as a breath of fresh air! Reminds me a little bit of the B&B scent called Sweet Citrus Basil.

It was a struggle to figure out what to call this! Now my job is to describe it. I'd say it's the quintessential holiday fragrance... a mingling of spice, bayberry, cranberry and Douglas fir. Talk about a cozy fragrance that will appeal to both sexes! This is not too heavy and the evergreen note is refreshing and nothing like Pinesol. ;-) You'll think you just walked into the living room on Christmas Eve.

I make this for the holidays, but there are folks that enjoy it's clean, resinous scent in any season. This fragrance is hard for me to describe ... it's an interesting blend of fruit, subtle spice (I detect some clove and anise) and a refreshing topnote of mint. In the bottle, it reminded me of a box of Jujyfruits candy... probably because of the fruity scents mingled with mint. Cozy yet refreshing. :-) When we went on vacation a few summers ago, I walked all over our room complex looking for the source of a wonderful scent. It turned out to be a bar of this soap from the previous Christmas that my son had taken out of his shaving kit and placed near the bathroom sink!

Yummy! I'm reminded of some lovely toffees I tasted years ago. To my nose the licorice/anise smell predominates with peppermint giving it an added zing. Stimulating but not overpowering... a nice balance.

Someone shared a bar of this scent and I had to have some for my own! ;-) I've sweetened the original slightly by spiking it with another fragrance I had here... the effect is spritely, not too heavy or sweet. A refreshing bar for the kitchen or bath. My daughter, Kristine, loves this one. :-)

Well... what was supposed to be a pretty swirl came out more like a batik! When working with a new fragrance, one doesn't always know what to expect. I should keep these things to myself and then you'd think I was trying for this effect all along! ;-) The bars are mostly a soft, cool pink with bits of violet here and there... some a lot and some a little. I'm kind of a stickler when it comes to garden scents. The peony fragrance to my nose was a tad "thin" compared to the real thing, so I spiked it a teensy bit with a touch of clove and some honeysuckle... to give it more body and sweetness. After a few weeks of curing time, it comes pretty darn close. :-) If you like complex florals, give this a try!

I've been trying to match a particular scent combination ever since my eldest daughter made me aware of it. Think I'm finally getting there. The blend is plum, rose and a touch of grapefruit. Sounds like an odd combination... but it's complex, rich and stimulating.

Everything a soap fragrance should be! This blend of herbal with lily of the valley is hard to describe... soft, clean, refreshing... the slightest tinge of earth. A really lovely combination! While it could fall into the "floral" category, it's so fresh and clean smelling, I daresay it would qualify as unisex. I'm currently using a bar from this batch and the soft aquamarine color looks really nice in the bathroom.

I'm excited about this new fragrance... every time I walked by the curing soap I had the hugest craving for rhubarb pie... It smells SO close to the real deal! A touch of strawberry rounds out this mouthwatering rhubarb scent.

My daughter has been wanting a good citrus scent for a long time... especially something more along the mandarin orange line. This Satsuma blend is great! It has become the new favorite of quite a few of the young adults in my life.

Simmerin' Cinnamon NEW!

And now... for something a little different! ;-) I was going to do this as a swirled soap this year, but forgot how soap can thicken all too quickly when too much of certain spices are present (cinnamon to darken the swirl). The only solution was to mix it all together anyway and to me the end result looks like a nice pattern for a Formica or granite countertop! It's kind of an interesting shade of dark rosy/tan. :-)

 

Still the same lovely scent, and I guess in the end, a different "look" from former seasons. ;-) Wouldn't be fall without it! The predominant scent is cinnamon, with apple and a hint of peach thrown in. The overall effect reminds me of a simmering potpourri my neighbor had years ago... YUMMY! This is the kind of smell I just love to put up to my nose and breathe in deeply for that euphoria we soapmakers can get!
